Focus on drills that enhance acceleration, top-end speed, and explosive power, such as hill sprints, bounding, and resistance sprints. This is a group session design for small groups or team in a competitive athletic environment.
- Hill Sprints – Sprinting uphill increases acceleration and builds strength in the legs for faster sprints.
- Flying Sprints – Build top-end speed by running at a steady pace and then sprinting at full speed after a short build-up.
- Bounds – Leap forward with long strides to improve leg strength, stride length, and explosiveness.
- Resisted Sprints – Sprint with added resistance to develop power and speed.
- Broad Jumps – Explosive jump forward, emphasizing power from the legs and improving first-step acceleration.
- Acceleration Drills – Short sprints starting from a dead stop to work on fast starts and building maximum speed quickly.
